“Your date is waiting for you at the theatre bar, stirring a strong, dark drink, ice clinking against the glass. We invite you to join them for a bittersweet one-to-one rendezvous; a journey from woozy unrequited love to cool financial transaction. Enjoy, with our compliments. After all, the best things in life are free…”
Complimentary is a performance for an audience of one that takes place at a Theatre Bar. The audience member is drawn into the role of cupid, playing messenger and matchmaker for the two performers. Past lovers, the characters Helen (an off duty A&E doctor) and Steve (an international session musician), quite by chance spot each other across the bar. Funny stories evoking past memories help to break the ice, before the audience member is given the power to determine how the flirtation will end.
