“Creative, thought-provoking, imaginative – wonderful!
Will stay with and inspire me for a long time.” Audience Member
Homing Instinct is an individual experience incorporating live performance and multi-media, which explores our longing and search for ‘Home’ in an inventive walk-through performance installation.
Homing Instinct has been developed by the company in partnership with audiences. A series of devising periods with work-in-progress showings, have provided a vital opportunity to test ideas for a performance in which the audience member
plays the central character.
Homing Instinct was devised by the four artists who perform live in the installation.
The process began by experimenting with multi-sensory stimulus – evocative smells, photographs, objects with interesting textures, the taste of food and drink, telling stories.
We played with sensory deprivation for the observer, in particular restricting sight, and shifting to a reliance on touch and hearing. Our investigations into audio atmospheres has led us to create original soundscapes in collaboration
with Nuri Fontanals-Simmons an electro-acoustic composer.
The making of Homing Instinct was funded by Arts Council England.
“A really new experience… I enjoyed it immensely. I roared with
laughter and at the same time started questioning my own ideas about home
as they are now… Great stuff. Bring on more!” Audience member
