Thessaloniki

March 6, 2008 by

We’ve been enjoying 20 degrees and sunshine over in Greece, whilst working on the ‘hotel project’ – called ‘Black Tonic’.  Chris has been shooting a lot of video, and taking some great pics – see his blog at www.primeobjective.co.uk for images of Thessaloniki.

We did our last day of work today, and tomorrow start our journey back home.  I think I’m going to have to physically drag Katherine and Chris away kicking and screaming!

Over land and sea

February 27, 2008 by

We’ve now set off on our voyage across land and sea to Thessaloniki in Greece.  We’ll be spending our time there collaborating with two wonderful greek scenographers (designers), and developing the aesthetic elements of our new performance Black Tonic

Together with the project’s film maker Chris Keenan, we’re hoping to put together a short video of our journey home featuring buses, ferries, trains, sea, mountains and Italian renaissance cities!  We’ll post it on the website once it’s done.

Thanks

February 11, 2008 by

Thanks to all those who joined us on Sunday 10th February for our first sharing of material from our new project titled Black Tonic, it was encouraging to have such a good turnout.  For those who missed it, we shared a small selection of scenes and some text from the emerging story, which is being created by our writer.

Expect hotels, love, detectives, sleep deprivation, and a 304 year old card playing criminal. We’ll let you know when there’s more to see…

Encounters 2007

November 26, 2007 by

The Other Way Works are taking part in a week of workshops at mac this week. The week explores ‘encounter’ performance – performance for an audience of one, or intimate or interactive performance.  As you can see, lots of names for this small field of performance, and lots of ways of going about it.  Breathe are also taking part, as well as a selection of other practitioners, and the whole week is being facilitated by Amanda from Stan’s Cafe.  It’s really refreshing to have time to play around with ideas, to discuss this kind of practice with other artists who make this kind of thing themselves, and to work practically with new people.  There’s a sharing of ideas and a chance to discuss things on Friday, drop us an email if you’d like to come along.
